Storage of Wood Pellets

New methods of renewable energy sources are constantly being used by the consumer and

installed into homes across Britain. With this comes a warning from HSE regarding carbon

monoxide safety and awareness.

The incorrect storage of wood pellets can be hazardous to health and in some cases fatal.

Nine people have been killed in Europe due to carbon monoxide poisoning caused by the

unsafe storage of wood pellets. As the use of wood pellet boilers are increasing so must

safety awareness attached to it.

The European ENplus wood fuel pellet quality scheme ensures that wood pellets retain

a consistent quality suitable for heating. The ENplus scheme is licenced by the UK pellet

council and certified by Hetas.
