£9m for heating projects across UK

An investment worth £9 million will be made for a new heating scheme in the UK. The money comes from Scottish Equity Partners (SEP) which will fund a pipeline of small-scale heat and combined heat and power projects (CHP) across the country.

Ardor Energy and Sustinere Solutions will install and maintain biomass and gas boilers and CHP projects in the next two to three years. The former St Clements Hospital site in London will get the first installation. Around 252 homes, which include social and affordable housing customers, are expected to purchase heat from a central energy centre and£9m for heating projects across UK district heat network when it is completed.

Peter Bachmann, Director at SEP said: “If the UK is to meet its requirements under the EU Renewables Energy Directive, DECC predicts that the country will need to increase significantly its renewable heat usage from 2% to 12%. There is a significant market opportunity in helping transition the UK to low carbon heating solutions. SEP’s investment in Ardor will facilitate the roll out of a number of low carbon heat driven projects across the country.”
