A terminal,
especially a low-level wall mounted one, needs to be guarded
to prevent anything or anyone coming into contact with the high
temperature combustion products. A terminal guard covers the
terminal and prevents close contact.
It is mandatory that a shield, mostly made from wire mesh, is
placed over the terminal if it exits the building less than
2 metres from ground level.
