A masonry
flue may be constructed individually from standard building
materials or constructed from pre-cast concrete flue liners.
All flues must be correctly sealed and able to withstand repeated
temperature changes.
The size and diameter of the flue dictates the type of appliance
that it is suitable for, although there are now kits available
to convert smaller diameters flues to accept a wider range of
appliances. Expert opinion should be gained before undertaking
this type of conversion.
